Yisang Yoon, age 64, of Evans, Georgia passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024. Yisang was born on December 24, 1959 to Kyunghee Yoon and Yongkyo Lee in Seoul, South Korea. After graduating with a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics, he passionately worked a 31-year career as a researcher and educator in the field of biology.
Strong, reliable, and humorous, Yisang was a loving father and husband to his two sons. He will be remembered for his love of Ohio State football, soft music, and sausage, but above all else, Yisang will be cherished for the life he built for his family and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
Yisang worried that he worked too hard and too much, oblivious to the fact that his family felt he was very much present and a light in their lives. His sons will remember him defeating impossible video-game levels when they could not, teaching them to beat him at table tennis, and eating Spam and rice after a hard afternoon of mowing the lawn together. His wife will remember him as her best friend and her shield, protecting her from and guiding her through the many difficulties they faced when moving to a new country, state, or city. He will be dearly missed by all.
Yisang is preceded in death by his mother, Yonkyo Lee, and his sister, Hwajeong Yoon. He is survived by his loving wife, Hakjoo Lee; his father, Kyunghee Yoon; sons, Andrew and Julian Yoon; sister, Hwa-il Chung; and brothers, Wonsang and Hyungsang Yoon.
