Major Price was born in Augusta, GA and lived in Rincon, GA most of his life. Major Price retired after 22 years in the United States Army. While serving in the military, he earned the National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and was also a Meritorious Service Medal Expert. After serving in the military, He worked as the Sr. Army Instructor at Hephzibah High School from 1984-1995 and the Academy of Richmond County from 1995-2006. He was passionate about teaching high school students in the JROTC Program. Major Price was a life member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans office. He also served as a Chairperson for the CSRA Veteran Activities. In addition to being an instructor, Major Price worked at H & R Block as a Tax Specialist Advisor.
Major Price is preceded in death by his father, Alver Price, mother, Bertha Price; step-mother, Bessie Edwards; and brothers, Richard Price and Walter "Butch" Price. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Monika Price; sons, Michael Price (Jill) and Roy Price (Keith); brother, Charles Price; sister, Vivian Edwards; Grandchildren, Julia Beaty (Robert), Jennifer Mizzell (Chase) and Michael Price (Jenna); great-grandchildren, Casey, Elizabeth and four more blessings on the way.
The family will receive friends from 11-1, Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Columbia Road. Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum with full military honors.
