Jo Ann Farinha

Jo Ann Farinha, 76, of Augusta, passed away on February 7, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with Dementia. Born on January 27, 1948 in Savannah, Georgia, she was preceded in death by her Mother Katherine Louise Cooley and her Father Albert William Cooley.

For many years, Jo traveled all over the world as a Military Spouse. She spent tours in North Carolina, Germany, Texas, Alabama, Nevada and England before settling down in Tifton, Georgia.

Jo worked most of her life in the food service industry before retiring to enjoy her hobbies and to spend time with her family. She enjoyed crocheting, sketching portraits, reading, watching television and listening to music (Especially Elvis Presley).

She is survived by her 4 children, Don Hemphill (Of Mississippi), Vicki Mobley Edwards (David ) of Ashburn, Georgia, Kathy Richards (Kevin) of Augusta, Georgia and Aaron Farinha (Missy) of Tifton, Georgia. Between her children, Jo was blessed with 8 grandchildren. Niki Richards (Jo) Chelsie Wallis (Cody) Chris Hemphill, Amber Patton (Zach), Tim Hemphill, Joshua Hemphill (Aliyah), Alan Hemphill , Andrew Mobley as well as 14 great-grandchildren.

The Family would like to thank her caregiver, Rosa Zambrana, and Helping Hands Hospice for helping to take care of her in her final days. There will be an intimate service held for family on February 10 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home .
