Janice was born to the late James Dye and the late Clentell Remley in Talladega, AL. Her family moved from Savannah, GA in the early 1960’s and she graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 1966. After high school Janice married and became an Army wife, living in several different states and countries but always returning “home” to Augusta, GA. She worked in various retail stores and medical offices but was most proud of her medical coding work and eventual retirement from the Medical College of Georgia hospital.
She later married the late Rev. Joseph Borgkvist, Jr. and moved to the West Columbia, SC area where they spent nearly 17 happy years together. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lexington, SC.
Janice was a woman of God and could always be found smiling, she had a laugh that was contagious and could light up any room.
She is survived by her children, Tina Hoops (Les) and Brian Martin (Kristin); step-children, Chris Borgkvist (Cathy) and Becky Crow (John); siblings, Karen Hite, Greg Remley and Joe Dye; grandchildren, Ashley Wiggins (Jason), Matthew McFatridge (Rachel), Mercy Fluker (Justin), Joshua Martin (Monika), Jacob Martin, Torie Martin, Emily Crow, Joshua Chandler and Dylan Chandler; and great-grandchildren, Gracie, Ellie, Jase, Montgomery, Grayson, Lily and Oakleigh.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Janice is also preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Rogers.
A celebration of life will be held at 1pm, Thursday, April 25 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home.
