Jack Jeptha Norris, 77, passed away peacefully at home February 1, 2021 surrounded by his daughters. He was born to Madeline Ivey Norris and Ralph L Norris on October 29, 1943. He attended North Augusta High School where he excelled at football, basketball and track. In 1964, he joined the Marines and headed off to Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he served many years at Savannah River Site until he took early retirement and started his own contracting business, retiring in 2010. Jack was a loving father and proud of his daughters, Stacy and Kim and grandchildren Norris and Madeline.
Jack was a force to be reckoned with and lived life to the fullest. His personality was contagious to everyone he met and was known as the best dancer in town. Jack was always there for his family and friends to lend a helping hand or words of advice. He was always hosting a party, with help from wife Claire, showcasing their beautiful home and listening to his stories. He was an avid golfer; you could always find Jack and Charlie at the golf club. As a master wood worker, he could build and fix anything. One of his favorite things was to refurbish antiques. He loved college football, and had season tickets and spent many Saturdays tailgating and cheering on the Gamecocks.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James Norris and Ralph Norris; sisters Marcia Norris Todd and Sandra Norris Cooper. He is survived by his daughters, Stacy Norris and Kim Norris Beard; grandchildren, Norris Scott Beard and Madeline Anne Beard; his brother, Gene Norris and sister, Sally Norris Black.
Due to COVID, Jack’s service will be postponed and announced at a later date. The family would like to extend their gratitude toward Elliott and Sons Funeral Home for being very accommodating during this difficult time.
