family by his side. Everardo fought pancreatic cancer vehemently for over a year, but it was time for him
to rest.
Ed was born to the late Natividad and Tomasa Casillas in Jirosto, Jalisco, Mexico and immigrated to the
United States in his late teens, where he met his amazing wife, Lupe. He is 1 of 10 kids, and the eldest
son.
Ed loved playing, talking about, and watching soccer, especially his Chivas de Guadalajara and El Tri
Seleccion de Mexico. He could always be heard screaming at the refs or celebrating a “golazo” while his
loving wife shooshed him in the background. Ed loved the outdoors whether he was grilling carne asada,
prepping the pool for family, tending his lawn, walking his beloved pups KC and Gigi, or jumping into the
freezing rivers of Yosemite National Park. Once convinced by his wife Lupe to start traveling, he enjoyed
visiting new places and even ticked some off his bucket-list such as visiting the Alamo, Niagara Falls, the
Grand Canyon, Lake Tahoe and New Orleans. Not to mention traveling across Mexico, and flying overseas to visit Paris, London, Ireland, and Rome.
Ed loved his family fiercely. He was their #1 cheerleader in anything they did. He would travel with his
sons Eddie and Mark to different BMX tracks to watch them race, and cheer his daughter Myra along her
first marathon adventure. When it was his grandson’s turn, Ed was at the BMX track cheering Mark on
with the same love and intensity he used on his son. He also got a kick out of watching his
granddaughter Tavyne grapple on the mat during her Jiu-Jitsu matches and was honored when she chose his number for her soccer jersey. He loved to see his family succeed in whatever they attempted. Ed worked hard and together with his wife provided a beautiful and prosperous life for their children.
Ed would always be seen smiling, laughing, and having a good time especially with his siblings, cousins,
in-laws, and nieces and nephews. Everyone loved to be around Ed. He had a positive outlook on life, and
people naturally gravitated towards him. His family describes him as being “everyone’s favorite Tio” and
the one you could go to for advice. He was generous with his time and love, and was always willing to
help out family and friends when they needed him. He was the first to celebrate life, and drink a shot of
tequila in honor of those who passed.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his son, Mark Casillas and 4 sisters (Tichi, Silvina,
Susana, and Maria de la Luz). Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Lupe Casillas; Children, Eddie Casillas (Michelle) and Myra Casillas-Bishop (Heath); Grandchildren Alicia Ingersoll, Mark and Tavyne Casillas; Siblings Ana Schwartz (Frank), Rosie Casillas, Chico Casillas (Diana), Ofelia Weiner (Mike), Luis Casillas (Nancy); and many nieces and nephews.
The family will have the service at a later time in California
