Ronald "Ronnie" Joseph Doiron beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Marrero, Louisiana on June 25, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents Percy Pierre Doiron and Cecile Braud Doiron. His life will be forever cherished by his wife Diana Doiron, his children Darla Doiron Hartsell (Kirk), Nadine Doiron Dupaquier (Kenneth), Ryan Joseph Doiron (London), stepson Ronny Myers (Kelly), grandchildren Mark Edward Hartsell, Joshua David Hartsell (Autumn), Jessica Dupaquier Malbrough (Stephen), Emma Doiron, step-grandson Gage Myers (Lauren), great grandson Parker Troy Hartsell, sisters Thelma Doiron Hebert (late Sherman), Linda Doiron Brown (Harold), and friends.
Ronnie, a lifelong resident of Marrero, Louisiana, joined the United States Army in 1957 and attended basic training and Jump Qualification School at Fort Bragg, N.C. He was subsequently stationed in Munich, Germany with the 503 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division, and was honorably discharged from military service in 1959.
Following his military service, Ronnie began his long career as an ironworker and was a lifelong member of the Ironworkers Local Union 58. Some of the more notable projects Ronnie worked on as an ironworker include the Louisiana Superdome, the 1984 World’s Fair, the Galleria in Metairie, the Greater New Orleans Bridge, the Waterford 3 Nuclear Power Plant, and John Ehret High School.
Anyone privileged enough to know Ronnie knew of his love for his family, traveling, his dogs, his ability to build anything, and his dry sense of humor. Ronnie enjoyed bowling and actively participated in two senior bowling leagues at the Westside Bowling Alley in Harvey.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Westside Leitz Eagan Funeral Home located at 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero La. Friends are welcome to attend visitation from 9:00 am to 11:OO am and a Catholic Service begin at 11:00 am. Friends are welcome to attend interment which will immediately follow at 1:30 pm at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery located at 34888 Grantham Dr. Slidell, La. 70460.
