Mary Ann Richoux Trahan passed away peacefully in her Gonzales home on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the age of 83. She was born in Marrero, Louisiana and spent most of her time split between the Westbank and Gonzales, despite having lived in a number of places including Germany, Alaska and Arkansas.
She is survived by her daughters Tina Wells (Michael) and Tammy Lafleur (Randy); her grandchildren Alexis Aumagamanaia (Samhitsi), Tyler Renojo (Aurora) and Storm Wells (Melissa), all of whom she adored. She is also survived by her sister Ruby Soleto and her brother James "Jimmy" Richoux (Shirley). She was also blessed to have a number of loving nephews and nieces.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents Louis Arsene Richoux and Agnes "Aggie" Bellanger Richoux. Her daughter Sherry Breland and her siblings Doris Dufrene, Raymond Richoux, Edward Richoux, Ida Autin and Lillian Leboeuf.
She was a free spirit who loved life, she was also a talented dancer, voracious reader and a United States Army veteran. She loved honey in her coffee, a good cuss word, and her family above all else.
To honor Mary's memory, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, Louisiana on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 1:00PM. Parlors will be open Friday from 9:00AM-9:30AM for immediate family, and for friends from 9:30AM until Mass time. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Westwego, Louisiana.
