Kathleen Mary Wagner

Kathleen Mary Wagner, age 80, of Terrytown, Louisiana passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024. Kathleen was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the parents of Stephan and Anna Wagner. Kathleen was preceded in death by both her parents and her one brother Patrick Wagner.

Kathleen is survived by her longtime friend Jo-Anna Russo whom she has known for 40 years. Her beloved nephews Sean and Patrick and her niece Kathleen. Her loving cousin Patricia Rhodes, and Patricia's children Timothy, Terrance, Patrick, Francis and Erin who is also Kathleen's godchild. They are all from Kathleen's hometown of Philadelphia.

Kathleen was a nun with the Sister of the Blessed Sacrament for 20 years and she was a New Orleans and Jefferson parish public school teacher for 30 years. She was also a professor of Education at Xavier University of New Orleans. Kathleen was an advocate for African American and Native American rights and equality.

She was considered a "social butterfly" in which she was involved in many community activities such as being an activist for civil rights.

To honor her memory a memorial service for Kathleen will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA 70072. Words of Remembrance will begin at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home.
