It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Emile J. Orgeron, who peacefully left this world on July 7, 2024, at the age of 88. He was the beloved husband of Elta Mae Perrin for 68 years. Father of Sandra Nocito (Perry), Darron Orgeron (Sharon) and the late Thomas J. Orgeron, Sr. Loving Grandfather to Thomas Orgeron, Jr., Tracy Summers, and Taylor Coffman (Cole); Shelly Valdez (Paul) and Rayson Hunter (Angela); Jenny Daigle (Jared), Brandy Law (Russell), and Jamie Sherrill (Jason). He has 19 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He also has 4 step-grandchildren, Michelle Gordon (Scott), Michelle Halby (John), Michael Nocito (Natalie), and Jennifer Gisclair (Ryan), as well as 12 step-great grandchildren. Brother of Delores Lorio (Allan) and Linda Clement (Whitney); brother-in-law of Murphy, Merlin, Bobby Perrin and the late Dale Perrin. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Melia Thibodeaux Orgeron, and In-laws, Emelda Matherne Perrin and Sherman Perrin; also, one great-great grandchild, Asher Wayne (Valdez).
He was a well respected leader in the Shipyard Industry. Known as EJ to his friends and family, he spent his early days as a drummer at the “dance”, where he first laid eyes on his forever love. They built a wonderful life together, devoted to their family, and retired on the bayou of Lafitte, a sportsman’s paradise. In EJ’s words, “It was a good life”.
A visitation will be held for Emile on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 9:00AM at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, followed by a Catholic Service at 11:00 AM. Emile will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be left for the Orgeron Family at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
