Edward James Powers III, (King of Gypsy Woman) at the age 81, of Marrero, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He leaves his beloved wife Jeannie Aucoin Powers whom he was married to for over 20 years. His loving son Eddie Powers, IV, his brother Raymond Gratia, and step-children David Aucoin and Dana Brown (Rob) and many more family and friends.
Eddie was a long time musician and was known as "The King of Gypsy Woman" and was also known for songs like "I'll Dream No More", "My Laura", "Goodbye Sue" and many many others. He was also the owner of Mr. E's Poor Boys in Metairie, Louisiana for 27 years. He started working at the age of 14 at his mother's restaurant, Fontana as a busboy.
Eddie played at many dances such as St. Anthony, St. Henry's and Redemptorist. He also sang at Mo's Chalet for many years.
Eddie will be extremely missed by all who knew him, but his songs will go on forever.
