Edgar Rene Ortiz

Edgar Rene Ortiz passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Breaux Ortiz and his daughters Kelly Ortiz and Tina Ortiz Polit (husband Sam Polit). A proud grandfather of Cayla Polit and Hannah Polit. Son of the late Maria Molina Ortiz and Cirilo Ortiz. Brother of Anna Ortiz Molina (husband Mario Molina) and Mirtala Ortiz Aaron (husband Mike Aaron). His is also survived by his two aunts, Candelaria Contreras Lozada and Irene Rodriguez (husband Ebaristo Rodriguez) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A native of Guatemala and a resident of Waggaman, LA. He received his United States citizenship on September 17, 1970 and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War for which he received his Purple Heart along with many other metals.

Edgar was a machinist by trade and enjoyed watching his Saints play, bowling, loved to sing karaoke and spend time with family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expy., Marrero, LA on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Visitation from 10:00 AM until Funeral time. Interment following in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Westwego .
