Dolores "Deetsie" Marie Terrebonne Parker of Westwego, Louisiana, went to meet the Lord on Wednesday, January 25th, 2023 at the age of 78. She was born in Westwego, Louisiana to the late Maurice and Elena Terrebonne. Dolores married John R. Parker, Jr. in 1964 and together they raised 2 children. Devoted mother of Darren J. Parker (Mary) and Nicole P. Waters (Ray). Proud Mimi of Ashley Guidroz, Keylin Nunez, Andrea Parker, and the late Renis Waters III. Great Grandmother of Renis Waters IV, Bailee Guidroz, Jordan Durousseau, and Phoenix Guidroz. Sister of Linda Gelpi (Bob), Joycelyn Sholer (Steve), and the late Brenda Dufrene (Terry). Dolores is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends who are left to cherish her memory.
Dolores was affectionately given the nickname "Deetsie" by her mother, when she was a young girl. Dolores was a 1963 graduate of West Jefferson High School and went on to work for Jefferson Parish as Clerk of Court. After 20 years of service, she retired as the Deputy Clerk of Court. Dolores displayed her love for her family by providing. She loved baking cakes and desserts, cooking cajun dishes and Italian cuisine, and made sure the house was clean before bedtime. She cherished her time with her beloved husband, children, grand children, and great grandchildren. Even though Dolores was an expert seamstress, she still found the need to shop at her favorite store, Dillards. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love her.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, February 9th, 2023 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 146 4th Street in Westwego, Louisiana. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Buddy Noel. A visitation will begin at 11:00AM an continue until the Mass time. Dolores will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in Westwego, Louisiana.
