James Edward McDaniel, 80, of Marlin, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin with Pastor Lynn Kemp and Reverend Mark Newton officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. McDaniel was born on December 6, 1940 to David Henry and Lucille Alene (Manes) McDaniel in Marlin, Texas. He married Roberta (Stevens) McDaniel on March 3, 1961 in Marlin and they celebrated over 60 wonderful years together. Mr. McDaniel was big in the horse industry, he loved riding horses, and going to rodeos where he won numerous buckles calf roping but his true love was his family. He was a member of the Senior Pro Rodeo Association, McClanahan Riding Club, Marlin Empty Saddle Club and the Central Texas Horse Show Association. Mr. McDaniel served his country in the United States Army; serving in Korea and Vietnam and was stationed all over the world. He worked for Southwestern Electric Service Company for over 40 years. Mr. McDaniel thoroughly enjoyed his morning breakfast and weekly lunch’s with his dear friends. He was a member of Common Grounds Cowboy Church. Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter; Terry Cox and two brothers; David McDaniel and Bobby Ray McDaniel.
Survivors include his son; William “Bill” McDaniel and his husband, Matt McCoy of Atlanta, Georgia, daughter; Tracy Martinez and her husband, John of Hubbard, Texas, a special beloved family member; Roper McDaniel, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
