Herbert Fleischhauer was born on January 17, 1939, to Ernst Wilhem Fleischhauer and Annie Emma Caroline Fahrenkamp Fleischhauer in Otto, Texas. He went to school at Alexander and Marlin. He was a warm-spirited and gentle soul who spent his most recent years in Mexia from 1996 until earlier this year. Herbert had a profound love for reading the Bible, which reflected his character and values throughout his life.
An avid football fan, Herbert passionately supported the Dallas Cowboys, and he enjoyed discussing games and players with friends and family. He cherished his time working on the family farm in the Perry/Otto area, where he found joy in tending to the land and spending time outdoors.
Herbert also had a knack for building things with wood during his school years, showcasing his creativity and skill. In addition to his love for farming, Herbert contributed to his community by working as a janitor for Mexia Independent School District. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a love for family and nature.
Herbert is preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Betty Fleischhauer.
Herbert is survived by his brother Raymond Fleischhauer, two nieces Daphne Hoeft and husband Greg, Leah Outlaw, several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
The Pallbearers will be Greg Hoeft, Alan Hoeft, Kermit Lowe, Terry Guenat, Darrell Koester and Arthur Banks.
Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church-Riesel, Faith Lutheran Church-Mexia, Groesbeck LTC and Providence Hospice.
Special thanks to all the staff at Groesbeck LTC, Ascension Providence Hospital staff Dr Mendez, Dr. Biboa, Dr. Roxann Samples and Providence Hospice staff Steve and Kay. The staff at AVID in Mexia who took special care of Herbert from 1996 to May 2024, Carolyn Dunn, Sue Morrow, Arthur Banks, Laura Gore, Sheryl Harper, Heather Armstrong and Bobby Green.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am Thursday October 17th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Riesel Texas. Funeral service to follow at 11:00 with Pastor Larry Knobloch of Riesel and Pastor Joel Hall of Mexia officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home in Marlin Texas.
