August Leon Feldman, affectionately known as Sonny, was called Home by his Lord and Savior on September 19, 2015 and is now at peace. Services for Sonny will be 12:00 p.m., September 22, 2015 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Marlin with Pastor Kurt Rutz officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Sonny was born October 24, 1923 to Fritz and Lena Feldman. There were ten brothers and sisters in Sonny’s family and he was the last living member of his immediate home family. Sonny married Vera Belle Sowders on January 14, 1945. Sonny and Vera had two children, Donald and Cynthia. They both retired from the Owen Illinois Glass Plant in 1982. Sonny worked many jobs in Marlin after his retirement- Falls Community Hospital, Live Oak Grocery Store, Majestic Pharmacy, Lonnie Hicks Shoe Store, and last Adams Funeral Home which suited Sonny so well. Sonny and Vera had many friends and entertained them in ‘Sonny’s Chapel’. They cooked and served many meals to their family and friends and played lots of games of ‘42’. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and held many office during his lifetime. He was an elder for a number of years and was a very dedicated servant. Sonny visited many sick members of the church, friends, family, and neighbors. He always loved and tried to take care of others. Sonny will always be remembered for his sincere care and love for others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his wife, Vera.
Sonny is survived by his children, Donald and wife Margaret and Cynthia and husband Darwin; grandchildren, John, Vanessa, and Corey; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Chance, Tanner, Seth, Lanie, and Jaxon.
The family suggests donations be made to the Grace Lutheran Church (432 Houghton Street, Marlin, Texas).
