Lillian Whitesides Jackson, 85, of Greensboro, NC, (formerly of Old Fort), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Beacon Place Hospice and Palliative Care in Greensboro, NC.
Mrs. Jackson was born in McDowell County, on January 2, 1932, to the late James Whitesides and Fannie Vannoy Whitesides.
She was an active member of Catawba View Missionary Baptist Church in Old Fort. She served as Church Secretary, President of the Missionary Society, sang in the choir, and was a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Jackson loved the Lord and loved her church family.
Mrs. Jackson was retired from her supervisor position at Collins and Aikman in Old Fort. She really enjoyed her retirement and fulfilled a lifelong dream to travel to Paris and Germany. She was an avid reader, and the Bible was her favorite book to read. Most of all, she was a loving wife and mother. She loved her family dearly, and she was deeply loved by them.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Calvin Jackson, Sr., and a brother, Fred Whitesides.
Surviving Mrs. Jackson are her daughter, Sandra Williams, of Greensboro, three sons, James Jackson, of Greensboro, Jackie Calvin (Ruby) Jackson, Jr., of Eden, NC, and Anthony (Andrea) Jackson of Colorado Springs, CO; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at 2:00 PM, at Catawba View Baptist Church in Old Fort, with Reverend Ronald A. Sullivan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service at McDowell Memorial Park in Marion.
