Born May 20, 1929 in McDowell County, James was the son of the late Green Thompson and Leora Marlowe Robbins. He had
worked as a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Sugar Hill Baptist Church. He had volunteered with the
Sugar Hill fire department and enjoyed helping his son farm. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a
brother, Hugh Robbins.
Survivors included his wife of 60 years, Kereda Virginia McIntosh Robbins of Marion; a son, James "Rodney" Robbins and wife Donna, of
Union Mills; a daughter, Laura McIntosh Horne of Matthews, NC; a brother, Glenn "Shorty" Robbins and wife Barbara, of Marion; a
sister, Hazel Busbin and husband Jack, of Ft. Mill, SC; four grandchildren, James Robbins, Barry Horne, Casey Horne and Jansen Horne;
he is also survived by numerous other relatives.
The family will receive friends at Kirksey Funeral Home on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral Service will be
held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home following the receiving with Pastor Michael Robinson officiating. Internment will follow the service at
the McDowell Memorial Park.
Memorials can be made to the Sugar Hill Baptist Church or to Hospice of Rutherford County.
