Verna moved to Georgia with her husband during his time with the Navy. They raised 4 children. She was active in the PTA and raising the kids and helped her husband with several side businesses’. She also worked and retired from Sun Trust as an application specialist. She and Gordon were active members of the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association and enjoyed her Bridge Club. Most importantly she was an active loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
Preceded in death by her husband, Howard Gordon Able; daughter, Sandra LaFevers.
Survived by her children; Barbara B. Roberts and her husband, Keith Roberts, Patricia C. Able, David G. Able and his wife, Heidi; son-in-law, Mike LaFevers; brother, Chester Brannen; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bob Able; sister-in-law, Marlene Able and Beverly Able; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 29 at 12 PM in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor John LaFevers officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 10 AM and 12 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
