Sandra Lewis Armstrong, 66, of Marietta, Georgia, joined her Heavenly Father on July 27th, 2023, after a courageous five-year battle with ovarian cancer. Her strength was not only exhibited in how hard she fought her battle, but in all her achievements throughout her life. Sandra was born on December 6th, 1956, in Nashville Tn. She was raised, along with her sister, by her loving grandmother and her adoring father.
Sandra later moved to Atlanta, GA, where she attended Woodward Academy, and was an active member of the drill team. She excelled at school and enjoyed tutoring other students. Her intellect, strong work ethic, and dedication led her to The Georgia Institute of Technology where she graduated in 1978 with a BS in Industrial Management. She was very active in the Greek community and was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. It was here that she met the love of her life, Steve Armstrong.
After college Sandra began her career at Life of GA Insurance. She later dedicated her life to raising her two beautiful daughters, and managing their busy household, including being the administrator of her and her husband’s business, Armstrong Development. She volunteered often at the girls’ school and was an avid tennis player and enthusiast. She instilled good sportsmanship values in her girls and loved watching them play. She was a dedicated cheerleader for any and all Georgia Tech sporting events.
Sandra found her peace and tranquility digging her toes into the white sandy beaches of Sandestin and any tropical paradise. She loved gardening and taking care of her hummingbirds. She deeply loved their family dogs, Abbey and Marley. Sandra’s southern charm, quick wit, and honest candor, left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her unwavering faith, strong will, loyalty, and genuine spirit touched all those who surrounded her. She loved her family, Christ, and friends with all her heart.
Sandra is preceded in death by her father, Sandy B. Lewis, and grandmother, Ruth Coursey Walker. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 44 years, Steven Michael Armstrong; daughters, Ashley Thompson and Courtney Boren (John); grand-daughters Mia Thompson, and Eve Boren; Grandson Baby Boren due in December; sister Becky Lewis Matheson (Dennis); nephew Rodney Lester (Amanda); nieces Allison Keating (Will) Catherine Asher (Ben), Jennifer Armstrong (George Kingma); biological mother, Lyda Sabo, brother-in-law, Jim Armstrong, sister-in-law, Carol Armstrong, and many beloved cousins.
