Matthew Glenn Sutter passed away on January 11th, 2022. He was born on July 6, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up with his sister, Courtney, in Marietta. He graduated from Pope High School. Matthew went on to obtain an Associate degree from Georgia Northwestern Technical College and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Logistics from Kennesaw State University in May of 2021.
Matthew was a dear son, beloved brother, and faithful friend. Matthew enjoyed rowing competitively throughout middle and high school on the Saint Andrew’s Rowing Team under the leadership of coach Dan McNair. Matthew was grounded in his faith as a member of Mount Paran North Church of God. Matt was a longstanding part of the American Pools (APS) family as a lifeguard, head guard, lifeguard instructor, and most recently a member of the APS technical team.
Matt never hesitated to respond to someone in need, a distressed swimmer as a lifeguard, or to a person in physical distress. With APS, he worked on the construction and maintenance of the reflecting pool at the Martin Luther King Jr center in Atlanta.
He is survived by his loving parents, Glenn Alfred Sutter and Roby Reeves Sutter, sister Courtney Reeves Sutter, and a large extended family. Relatives and friends will remember Matthew’s laughter, his witty sense of humor, his reverberant baritone voice, and good-hearted caring nature. His APS family recounts Matthew’s strong work ethic and dependability.
