I just remember, what felt like endless laughs. Sitting at the mall or at church or at the beach, anywhere. Everything I know about rowing I learned from Matt. I don't personally row but I didn't know anything about it before.  I loved all my time with Matt and I will miss him very much

Matt was a great guy. I went to college with him in Rome for Aviation. He was always putting a smile on everyone's face during and after classes. He will be missed. 

I loved that Matt and I shared a love of rowing. Seeing him was such a  highlight of many regattas, especially at Head of the Hooch. He was always there with a laugh and encouragement. Whenever we were on the water at the same time (with him in a chase boat) my race nerves were calmed. I love you.

A shared love for rowing always brought us together. Matt loved to row, stakeboat, and help wherever he could at these races, and we loved to see him.

This was a whitewater rafting trip organized by Roby. Overall a wild, crazy, and fun day. Matt was a tough dude.

Everyone here at American Pool sends our heartfelt condolences to Matt's Family and friends.  Matt was our go to guy here...if there was a problem, just ask Matt!  Never once did he shy away from helping his teammates out.  In fact he selflessly would seek out opportunities to make life easier for us all.  There were many times we had a difficult customer and we would ask Matt to step in and manage that particular site.   Once he was there, the complaints stopped and all was good.  There were many long summer days and weeks for Matt with us.   I do remember him coming to me one day with an issue that was bothering him.  He was concerned with how much overtime he was making...basically he told me that we were buying him a car with the amount of overtime he was getting and was I aware that it was adding up.  To me, that was Matt.  Always concerned about others.  Best money I ever spent.  We will miss you Matt. Thanks for all you did for your American Pool family.  

I have so many great memories with Matt.  He was one of the guys I got to work closely with when I started in the pool business 8 years ago.  I remember so many long days getting dirty working on pools, joking, talking about cars and everything else.  Matt was a Rock-star and just an all around good dude.  One of my last times getting to hang out with him was at an apartment association show promoting our new product.  That was just an all around good day.  I miss you everyday buddy.  Until we meet again. 

At the lowest point in my life, I was blessed with the friendship of Matthew, Courtney and Roby. Matthew would walk to my house just to talk. One day when he walked to my house, I told him that I had to cook and he said "that's ok. Can I come in and watch you?" I think he knew that I needed to talk more than he did. He had an old soul for a little boy. Matthew, see you soon.

Roby and Glenn I'm so sorry and saddened to hear this news about Matt. I echo what Coach Blair shared and remember being inspired as one of Matt's rowing coaches because he never gave up. He was one of the first to volunteer and help the coaches, one of the last to stop working and always did so with such kindness, positivity and respectfulness. He was just so good to others no matter what and it was contagious. I bumped into him a few times at regattas after our rowing years and he was exactly the same, just a more grown up version. One of my favorite memories is here on the bridge at the Hooch (Jen was racing and I was up there with the kids to watch and found Matt).  He walked and talked with us for a good while, interacted with the little monsters and just brought a bright light to our day as he often did. My heart breaks for you Roby and Glenn. Your family is in our prayers. Thank you, and thanks to Matt for the memories. 

I don’t think I have any pictures of Matthew and me, but I have one of him and my brother. Matthew was always at our house because him and Nick were best friends. Matthew became like another big brother to me. I am so sorry for your loss.

I remember Matthew as a big part of my childhood and growing up through adolescence. I have many fond memories of hanging around the house, meals, video games, bike riding... but something that always stuck with me is that he called me by my full name, Alexandria. No one else has ever referred to me as anything but my nickname, but the amount of respect he had for that has always impressed me through the years. The amount of good will and kindness he always showed me has always been something fond to look back on. I love that I could be a part of his childhood too. Thank you Matthew for being a part of my life. I look back on our East Cobb memories very fondly and always will.  The world will never be the same without you. - Alexandria

Dear God, Roby,  
I am stunned and to hear about Matthew. I don't know what to say other than I am holding you and Glenn and Courtney closely to my heart, and I am praying that you will be delivered from your pain and grief. 

I remember Matthew very fondly from my coaching days and continued to enjoy connecting with him occasionally via Facebook.
He really was a sweet, gentle soul. My heart is broken for you. 

I live in Washington state now, and won't be there for Matthew's service, but please know that I would be there if I could, and that I will attend the virtual service to be with you in spirit.

I’ve known Matt for 7 years, and through those 7 years he was always a wonderful friend. He would go out of his way to make you smile or laugh and make sure you were happy. He was one of my first real friends who actually cared and we will miss him a lot.

I never knew him, but I know he had to be golden. His mother and sister have been a grace from god in my life!! I pray every day for your family! You deserve the world!!!
