Jean Redmond Jones

Jean Redmond Jones, 89, of Marietta, GA, died peacefully early Saturday morning, April 1, 2017. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday April 5, 2017 at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in East Cobb with Rev. Bryant Wright officiating.

Jean was born to Ruby and Edgar Redmond in Vinton, Virginia on April 12, 1927. Her family moved to Winston Salem, NC when she was a young child where she graduated from R J Reynolds High School. Jean was blessed to grow up, get baptized, marry, have children and raise them under Dr. Charles H. Stevens of Salem Baptist Church.

Jean married Nelson Jones August 11, 1945. She was an active member and past president of the Winston Salem Junior Woman’s Club. Due to her husband’s work, the family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, Atlanta, Georgia, St Petersburg, Florida, Hilton Head Is, SC and back to Atlanta, Georgia. First thing the family did when they moved was to find a Bible-believing church and become active. Jean and Nelson are members of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, where they are members of the Agape Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Nelson Lee Jones, Sr; two sons, Nelson Lee Jones II (Cheryl) of Marietta, M Keith Jones (Julie) of Marietta; four grandchildren, David Stuart Jones (Katherine), Melanie Jones Sotomayor (Justin), Lori Jones Wilhoit (David), Tyler Keith Jones; eight great grandchildren, Savannah Grace Kubler, Landon Alexander Jones, Brooks David Jones, Hadassah (Haddie) Reid Sotomayor, David Stuart (Sonny) Jones II, William Beauregard (Beau) Jones, Hayden Royal Sotomayor, Holbrook Scott Redmond Sotomayor.

Jean was predeceased by her grandson, Scott Alexander Jones; father, Edgar Philip Redmond; mother, Ruby Frazier Redmond; brothers, Melvin Redmond, Blondell Elmo Redmond, Edgar Frazier Redmond; and sister, Phyllis Louise Redmond.

Visitation will be at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, GA on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM.

Burial will be at Forsyth Memorial Cemetery in Winston Salem, NC.
