Mr. Henry C. Haley, 78, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully at his home in Calhoun on December 4, 2013. He is the son of George and Naomi Haley who preceeded him. "Let me tell you this", Henry began his career as a paper boy at age 11, bought a building at 17 and then rented the building to the newspaper. So began his real estate ambitions. He attended Brown High School and graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1952. He graduated from the University of Georgia and received a degree from Atlanta Law School. He was employed by First Federal Savings & Loan and also Security Federal Savings & Loan, as an appraiser. He became the broker for his own real estate company, Georgia Land Brokers, in 1966. He retired on Wednesday. He served in the Army Reserves and was a long-time member of the Cherokee Town & Country Club. He was a very generous and giving man. In fact, his stretches of giving were far above his family as he provided many others the opportunity to pursue a college education. He and his wife, Martha Ann raised their 3 children in Marietta and attended Eastside Baptist Church. He is survived by Martha Ann and his daughter, Christine (David) Fisher of Rome, Ga, his sons, Nathaniel Haley of Girdwood, Alaska and Calvin Haley of Marietta. He was "Paw Paw" to 7 grandchildren, Corey (Tara) Ragan, Ben Ragan, Davy Fisher, Haley Fisher, Dane Fisher, Jake Haley and Joe Haley. Henry is also survived by his sister, Jeannine Smith and brother, Charles ( Beverly) Haley and sister&law Betty Haley, along with 17 nieces and nephews The celebration of his life will be Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel and his family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Henry to the University of the Cumberlands, 6178 College Station Drive, Williamsburg, KY 40769, www.ucumberlands.edu.
