Elaine Chapman Davenport, 98, of Marietta, passed away on December 18, 2016. She was a Marietta native, born on February 21, 1918. Elaine graduated Valedictorian from Marietta High School, class of 1935. She then earned her bachelor’s degree from Draughan Business College. Elaine had a career as an accountant for the City of Smyrna as well as for Georgia Tech. She was a woman of great faith, and was the oldest living member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church before her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Davenport; brother, Frank Chapman; and sister, Glennis Reese. Elaine is survived by her daughter, Annette (Ronald) Clark; son, Ben (Bobbie) Davenport; sister, Johnnie Johnson; granddaughter, Elisabeth (Colin) O’Brien; and 2 greatgrandchildren, Carlen and Oliver O’Brien.
