Barbara Reynolds White of Pearisburg, VA, formerly of Marietta, GA, died peacefully with a full smile on her face on February 7, 2023, at the age of 88. She began her life journey on March 9, 1934, in Versailles, KY. This beginning gave her a deep love of the Kentucky Derby and bourbon balls throughout the rest of her life. At the age of 12, with the assistance of her Sunday School teacher, Barbara made a profession of faith in Jesus, and this defined the remainder of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta and loved Dr. Charles Stanley's messages. She met Kenneth Alan White, Jr. at the Ridgecrest Retreat Center in North Carolina at the age of 21. After graduating from the University of Kentucky and working a summer job at Ridgecrest Retreat Center, she moved to Florida where she and Kenneth were married in 1957. Throughout their 39 years of marriage, Barbara was the solid support that allowed Ken to be highly successful as hiswork took them from Florida, Minnesota, West Virginia, and finally to Georgia. After his death in 1996, Barbara continued to focus her life on her three great loves. She was enthusiastically committed to missions and missionaries. Being a fifty-year member of the Gideon's auxiliary allowed her to distribute Bibles widely. This included over a decade of regularly working with women in prison. The mission aviation organization JAARS and Barbara share a common goal: serving as a support group for those involved in Bible Translation. Samaritans Purse with its focus on teaching children about the truth of Jesus around the globe was the third means of changing the world. If you would like to continue her ministry by supporting any of these three organizations with a memorial gift the family would appreciate it. Another of Barbara's loves was travel. This began in high school with her first trip to the beach in Sarasota, FL, to her travels with Ken. She continued to travel, being able to see in her lifetime all 50 states and 43 countries. Through it all, the beach was always her favorite place to be. Barbara's third great love and the one that brought the biggest smiles came from phone calls and travels with her offspring four children, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Kenneth Alan White III and wife Michelle White of Akron OH: Barbara DeAnne White Burch and husband Brian Burch of Pearisburg, VA: David Andrew White and wife Isabella White of Glen Burnie, MD; Daniel Mark White and wife Lori White of Lilburn, GA. She was grandma-mam-maw to Alan's children: Ben White and Alaina Bernadine; DeAnne's children: Matthew, Michael Rory, and Zachary; David's children: Rebecca, Jonathan, Catherine, and Gabriella; and Daniel's children, Annsley, Hannah, and Nathaniel. Barbara's parents, Guy Herbert Reynolds and Clarissa French Reynolds, and sister Betty Littleton are buried with the extended family in Versailles, KY.
