Karp, Andrew Edward "Andy", 96, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, December 18, 2015 in Pompano Beach, Florida. Andy was born on November 28, 1919 to Charles and Mary Putka of Cleveland, Ohio. He proudly served our country as a member of the United States Navy from 1942-1945, fighting bravely in World War II. Andy lived a very full life. He loved to dance, and was especially good at the jitterbug. He was an avid sports fan, both spectator and participant. For many years he enjoyed participating in the Senior Olympics. Andy also enjoyed being a "snowbird" with his wife Millie. They spent the warm months in Ohio and the cooler months in Florida. They always made sure to stop and see as much family as possible. He absolutely adored being able to see his grandkids, whether it being able to go to one of their sporting events or simply collecting leaves on a walk in the park. He had a way of making every member of his family feel special and loved.
Andy leaves behind his loving wife and devoted caretaker Mildred (Millie) Karp; two sons, Dale Karp of Lagrange, Ohio and Gary Karp of Coral Springs,
Florida; five daughters, Sharon Johnson, Little Rock, Arkansas, Nancy Mugnano, Coral Springs, Florida, Andrea Kontras, Summerville, South Carolina, Kelly Mazur, Parma, Ohio and Dawn Gaydos, North Ridgeville, Ohio. His legacy will also live on through the lives of many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death his parents, Charles and Mary Putka, his beautiful bride of 35 years, Kathryn Karp (Reiman) with whom he was blessed with 9
children. He is also preceded in death by his daughters, Terry Kolin (Karp), Gayle Verbeke-Soloman (Karp) and grandson, Brian Karp.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St.Judes Children Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Gifts, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142
