Qani was born November 17, 1936 in Albania to Xheladin and Manushaqe Hasa. Qani was born and raised in Albania. He immigrated to the United States in 1960 in his early 20s. Qani married Linda Radeff on January 16, 1967 in Pontiac IL.
Qani was a bartender for most of his professional career, working at various restaurants or bars, including West Morland Country Club, King’s Palace, the Diplomat, Belden North, and My Place in the Chicago area from 1965 until 2014. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Johnny."
Qani was passionate about his family, making sure everyone was taken care of. This included his immediate family here in the United States and his family in Albania. He liked to tend his small garden and had pride in taking care of the family home.
Qani was survived by his wife, Linda Hasa, his sons Angelo Hasa, Del Hasa (and his wife Shannon), and Pete Hasa (and his wife Tracy), and his grandchildren Morgan, Elli, Benjamin, Elisjada, and Mikel.
Preceded in death by: His father, Xheladin Hasa, mother, Manushaqe Hasa, brother Hiqmet Hasa, sister Rrahime Lamce, and son Gramos Hasa.
A memorial gathering for Qani will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E Grant Hwy, Marengo, Illinois 60152, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM.
