Jim was born June 25, 1942 in Chicago to George "Jim" and Elaine (Rickert) Nierman. Jim earned the rank of Eagle Scout and the Order of the Arrow in the Boy Scouts of America. On September 25, 1965 he married Joan Gruetzmacher. He attended the University of Illinois-Chicago. Jim was also in the Army National Guard. He led a busy and active life including camping and going to their summer home at Bass Lake.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years Joan; his children, James, Jeffrey (Kelly), Julie; his granddaughters, Emma, Claudia (Asa), and Clarissa; and his brother, Kelvin.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas.
A visitation for Jim will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to the 11:00 AM Funeral Service at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E Grant Hwy, Marengo, Illinois 60152. Burial will be in Marengo City Cemetery, Marengo.
