Thomas “Tom” Kevin Gibbs, 64, of Marco Island, Florida passed away December 12, 2020. Thomas was born February 10, 1956 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Bill and Jean Gibbs. Bill was killed in 1964 in a plane crash while coaching basketball at the University of Tennessee. Tom moved to Oakwood with his mother and stepfather, Theodore Floridis and graduated from Oakwood High School in 1974. Tom studied at Florida Southern College and Arizona State University. He eventually moved back to the mid-west and raised his family in Lawrence, Kansas. After retiring as Vice President of Stifel Brokerage in 2013, he moved to Marco Island.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Karen Gibbs of Marco Island, Florida; daughter, Ellen Gibbs of Seoul, South Korea; son, Bill Gibbs of San Diego, California; sister, Virginia Gibbs (Bob) Holbert of Overland Park, Kansas; half brother Theodore “Tad” Floridis of New York City, New York, niece Nancy Holbert Carter; nephew Jay Holbert; step children, Ryan Fender, Kansas City, Missouri and Jason Fender of Honolulu, Hawaii; and step-grandchildren Kiana and Kannon Fender of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Bill Gibbs, his mother, Jean and his stepfather, Theodore Floridis.
