Joseph Charles Domiano, 95, of Marco Island, FL and Pepper Pike, OH, passed away on August 13th, 2024. He was born on October 21st, 1928, in Cleveland, OH to the late Charles and Mary Domiano. Joe met the love of his life, Julie, at John Adams High School. They married in 1950 and from then on, exemplified what a marriage should be. He will be remembered as a true gentleman, with a generous heart who was always willing to forgive, and an excellent storyteller. His background as a lawyer made him a trusted advisor for his family, friends, and clients, offering analytical and thoughtful guidance as they navigated life's challenges. He enjoyed the arts, golf, sailing, boating, scuba diving, and snow skiing.
He is survived by his three children, Joe Jr. (Dawn), Laura, and John (Michaela), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A founding partner of Friedman, Domiano & Smith, Joe earned a BBA Degree at Adelbert College of Case Western Reserve before earning his legal degree at Cleveland State in 1956. He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1957. Throughout his career, he served as Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General, Prosecutor for the City of Maple Heights, Village of Bentleyville Solicitor, Counsel to the Maple Heights Board of Education, Twinsburg City Schools, and Law Director, City of Olmsted Falls. He was the President ('94) and member of the Cuyahoga County Bar Association, Lorain County Bar Association, Cleveland Bar Association, the Cleveland Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Ohio State Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
In addition to his professional achievements, Joe took great pleasure and joy in his numerous philanthropic interests. His charity work spanned Ohio and Florida, specifically his involvement in The Church of the Resurrection (OH) and San Marco (FL). He was honored to serve as a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Joe served on many boards, such as Transitional Housing, Inc. and the Marco Courtyard Towers Assc. He was a member of various local groups and enjoyed delivering for Meals on Wheels. The list goes on and on. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) in honor of his beloved Julie, or to St. Vincent de Paul of Naples, who sponsored Meals on Wheels, (https://svdpnaples.org/donate/). A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later time.
