John “Pop” Joseph Malloy, age 74, of Marco Island/Naples, Florida; formally of New Jersey, passed away after a short, unexpected illness, on August 30, 2023. John was born to Mae and Jack Malloy on May 17, 1949, in Summerville, New Jersey.
John served in the Air National Guard. Afterwards he had a long career as a builder/contractor, but he also really loved the times he was able to work with his son on the water after moving to Marco Island. He had a full life and provided his family and friends with many wonderful memories of laughter and good times. He will be greatly missed.
John had many roles in his lifetime, but his most valued roles were as husband, Dad, and Pop. He believed in the importance of family and dedicated his life to supporting those he loved. Even after retiring, he continued to use his craftsmanship to make family treasures. John had a passion for rebuilding old cars, especially with his kids and grandkids. He was there to fix whatever needed to be repaired or provide guidance on an issue that had to be resolved.
Preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Michael and Grace Mauri; brother-in-law Michael (Skip) Mauri; granddaughter Kylie Miracle O’Gorman.
John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara (Mauri) Malloy; Daughter Michele (Malloy) O’Gorman; Son Jack Malloy; Daughter-in-law Samantha Malloy; grandchildren Patrick O’Gorman, Alexis Malloy, Addison O’Gorman; Sister Mary Siringo; Brothers Ed Malloy and Bill Malloy; nephew Erik (Ashley) Zingler; nieces Kayla (Brian) Fernandez, Amy Turko; Kelly Hummel; great nephew Brian Fernandez; several cousins; and many lifelong friends.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
