Elizabeth Patricia (Mangine) Cioffi, died peacefully surrounded by her family on September 6, 2023 after losing her battle with cancer. Known by her family and friends as “Betty”, she was born July 3, 1936 in Paterson, New Jersey. She moved to Wyckoff, New Jersey to raise her family before making Marco Island her permanent home and final resting place.
Betty met her husband Joe early in life. Their friendship grew into a beautiful marriage based on love, care, and support. Their marriage of 68 years was filled with beautiful memories that became the foundation for their family to build upon. A loving, active and supportive grandmother, “Nanny” was frequently seen attending dance recitals, baseball games, birthday parties or graduation ceremonies for one of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren.
Betty was a devoted member of the San Marco Catholic Church, an avid golfer, world traveler, and staple in her community. Giving back to others was an important value to her and this was best exemplified in her frequent volunteer work with the Marco Island Women’s Club. She believed in supporting causes related to improving education in under-served communities, funding local civic branches, and promoting equitable healthcare for others. In addition to her philanthropic and charitable endeavors, Betty loved a good glass of Pinot Grigio, dining at local restaurants, and Nordstrom’s.
Betty touched the lives of so many people. She will be remembered for her generosity, humor, service to others, and for being the heart of her family and the friends that meant so much to her at the Monterrey.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph, her sister, Grace Westling, sons, Joseph Jr. & Russell and her daughter Jill. She will be sadly missed by her granddaughters, Katie & Elizabeth, grandsons, Nicholas, Connor and Christopher, great granddaughters, Tiffany, Caylee, Grace and great grandsons, Dylan & Micah and her beloved dog Gracie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
