Janice M. Reed

Janice M. Towey Reed, 90, of Marblehead, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Born in Salem, MA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Towey, and wife of the late Donald Reed with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.

She was raised and educated in Marblehead. She worked for New England Telephone in Salem and Soucy Insurance in Salem until her retirement. Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of St. Stephen’s Church, the Marblehead Women’s Club, and the Marblehead Council on Aging. She was also very active in the Salem Lancers Square Dance Club, and Line Dancing Groups. She also enjoyed playing golf with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Dana Reed and his wife Beth; her brother, Stuart Towey and his wife Sally; two granddaughters, Kristine Reed, and Lisa Stanchfield and her husband Tom; and two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Ava Stanchfield. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Douglas Reed, and the sister of the late John Towey.

Visiting hours will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead on Tuesday, October 10 from 4-7PM. A funeral service will be held at Eustis and Cornell on Thursday, October 12 at 11AM followed by burial in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
