Barbara (Duly) Johnson, 78, of Marblehead, passed away on November 12, 2010 at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Danvers. She was the wife of the late Robert S. Johnson with whom she shared 21 years of marriage. Born in Stoneham, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Doris (Waring) Duly.
Barbara was a graduate of Marblehead High School and the Fannie Farmer Cooking School in Boston. She worked as an administrative assistant for Bank of Boston in Marblehead and later Salem Hospital. She mostly was a proud mother of her five children. She was very active in the town she loved and was Past President of the Harbor Women’s Club in Marblehead. She was also an avid bowler.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by five children, Scott Johnson and his wife Julee of Salem, NH, William Johnson and his wife Janice, Peter Johnson all of Salem, MA, Linda Dinsmore of Peabody, MA, and James Johnson and his wife Jean also of Salem, MA; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Stephen Duly Jr. and his wife Pat of Marblehead; a sister, Joan Kimber of Hyannis; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at the Clifton Lutheran Church, 150 Humphrey, Street, Marblehead on Tuesday, November 16 at 11AM. Burial to follow in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held at the Eustis and Cornell Funeral Home, 142 Elm Street, Marblehead, on Monday from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
