Ann M. Porter

She was the beloved wife of the late Rufus B. Porter, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. The two enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod and loved weekends swimming with their family in their backyard pool, and watching their beloved New England Patriots.

Born in Cambridge, MA on February 25 ,1935. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Kimber and Emma (Hartry) Kimber. Sister of the late Reverend Arthur F. Kimber of Hyannis, MA. Ann graduated from Marblehead High School and had fond memories of her over 35-year career at Salem Hospital. She was a devoted member of St. Michael’s Church in Marblehead, MA where she belonged to St. Catherine’s Guild and volunteered at their thrift shop.

She was a loving and involved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The time spent and memories made with her loved ones meant the world to her. And she loved nothing more than to be surrounded by her family.

Surviving Ann are her children, Judith Goldman and her fiancé John McCurdy of Swampscott, MA; David and Bonnie Porter of Lake Clear, NY; Michael Porter of Tamworth, NH; and Susan Maitland of Swampscott, MA.

Her grandchildren, Matthew Sandler and wife Stacey of Fairfax, VA; Michael Sandler and his wife Heidi of Lowell, MA; Brian Sandler and his husband David of Manchester, NH; Jennifer Cameron and her husband Jayme of Beverly, MA; Jason Porter of Berwick, ME; John Porter and his fiancé Amanda Dixey of Salem, MA; Derek Porter of Waterbury, VT; and Christopher and Kyle Maitland of Swampscott, MA.

Her great-grandchildren Harper Sandler, Natalie and Jillian Sandler, Layla and Ivy Cameron, Rowan Porter, Sylas Porter, Amelia and Grayson Porter as well as many other dear relatives and friends.

Arrangements: A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 1:30pm, at Waterside Cemetery, 294 Westshore Drive Marblehead. Please meet at the main entrance of the cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s name to the Lafayette Rehabilitation home in Marblehead, MA.

A celebration of life at St. Michael’s Church in Marblehead, MA will be held at a later date.
