Martha Edwards, 75, of Marble Falls, TX died October 28, 2010.Born in Amarillo, TX on February 4, 1935, she was the daughter of Arthur and Pearl (Sullivan) Edwards. She weighed just 4 1/2 lbs. and had a wonderful mother who took diligent care of her. She was raised in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School.
She was a second mother to her little brother, Mike McCracken, who currently lives in Ft. Collins, CO with his wife JoEllen. She was also like a sister to her great aunt, Pearl Marchant of Amarillo. Martha married Bill Edwards in 1953 and was a devoted and loving wife for 57 1/2 years. She was very supportive as he served 21 years in the Air Force, including 3 tours of duty during the Viet Nam War. She was supportive and partnered with him as they ran Mt. View Camp in Spicewood, TX in the early to mid 70’s and again as he started Bill’s Lock & Key in Marble Falls in the late 70’s. During these years she also worked as a telephone operator, in retail services, bookkeeping, property management, and keypunch operator and materials manager for Gould Electronics.
She was a loving and devoted mother of 3 children; Billy (who died at age 3), Don Edwards of Amarillo (currently living in Marble Falls) and Sherry Edwards Garrett of Amarillo. Martha was a very special grandmother to her 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, all of whom live in Amarillo.
Martha was always positive and saw the glass half full. She was willing to help those in need. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts with the grandkids and great grandkids. She was very artistic with painting, ceramics, sewing and cake decorating.
She left a wonderful legacy to her family and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
The family will have a private memorial service.
