Albert Raymond Breton, 86, of Marble Falls, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2021 after a brief illness. Albert was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on May 19, 1935 to the late Mabel Labrecque and Albert J. Breton. He is survived by a loving family, including his wife of 36 years, Judith Reed Breton, daughters Susan Taylor and her husband Doug (Corinth, TX), and Lisa C. Breton (Chicopee, MA); stepchildren and their spouses Steve Dush (Austin, TX), Barbara and Rand McCullough (Kerrville, TX), Diane and Ray Don Tilley (Wimberley, TX), and Linda and Elie El Hage (Austin, TX); brother Robert Breton (GA) as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Albert was a proud veteran who enlisted in the Air Force in 1953. He was stationed at Dow AFB (Bangor, ME), MacDill AFB (Tampa, FL), Westover AFB (Chicopee, MA), and Bergstrom AFB (Austin, TX), where he retired as a senior master sergeant in June 1989 after 36 years of service. He used his GI Bill to attain his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Concordia University in 1999, and worked at the Texas Department of Transportation until his retirement. He and Judy relocated to Granite Shoals, and then to Marble Falls, to enjoy their retirement years.
Albert lived a full life, enjoying sailing and genealogy research, and he taught others how to research their genealogy. He volunteered his time assisting others with their taxes. He was a member of Honor Flight Austin and an alumni member of the US Air Force Airborne Missile Maintenance Squadron in the Strategic Air Command. He was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Marble Falls and was a man of faith. He loved being with his family, was a friend to everyone he met, and a source of strength for all who knew him.
Albert adored his many grandchildren: Andrea Adamchak (Greencastle, IN), Jaymes Bell and his wife Hillary (Omaha, NE), David Bell and his wife Haley (Magnolia, AR), Baldwin Justice and his wife Alexis (Metairie, LA), Caitlin Justice (New Orleans, LA), Carmen McCullough (Austin, TX), Amanda Tilley Duncan and her husband Jeremy (Highlands, TX), Erin Tilley (Fayetteville, AR), Olivia Tilley and her husband Joshua Petrawski (Phoenix, AZ), Brian Tilley (Dallas, TX), Christina El Hage (Austin, TX), Alexander El Hage (San Marcos, TX) and Sophia El Hage (Austin, TX), and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Lynn Susan Breton, his sister Claire Lamont (Boise, ID), and his brother Normand Lani Breton(San Diego, CA).
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 20th at 10:00 am. Donations may be made in Al’s memory to the Gary Sinise Foundation (garysinisefoundation.org) which offers support services to the nation’s defenders, veterans and first responders, or Honor Flight (honorflight.org) which transports veterans to visit war memorials, or the charity of your choice. His ashes will be interned at Precious Blood Cemetery with his beloved grandfather in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
