The late brother Willie H. Miller, age 71 of Cambridge, Ohio and former Mansfield resident, went home to be with the lord peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2008 at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Willie was born on June 26, 1937 to Lorine Caldwell-Smith whom survives him and the late Zell Miller, Sr. He was self-employed for the past 50 years and owner of Miller's Cleaning which he started with his former wife, Cora Ann Sweetie. Willie later moved to Cambridge, Ohio where he began Miller Brother's Cleaning and Auto Detailing. Willie was a member of the First United Methodist Churchof Cambridge, Ohio where his pastor was Dr. Terry Litton, and which he attended regularly until his illness. He married Cora Ann Black, who is also known as "Sweetie" which is the nickname Willie gave her years ago and still called her that just days ago before his death who is the mother of his children and they remained special friends through the years.
He was loved by all that knew him and will be sadly missed by his mother, Lorine Caldwell Miller-Smith of Mansfield; four brothers, Frank Nadine Miller, John Miller, Joseph Miller, all of Mansfield, and Zell Miller, JR. of Austin, Texas; four daughters, Darcye Henson of Richmond, Virginia, Tracye Stanley Kennie of Marion, Alabama, Gwendolyn Karl Waller of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Drena Miller AJ Kilgore, who was also his wonderful caregiver, of Cambridge, Ohio; and two sons, William and George Palmer, Jr., both of Columbus, Ohio. Willie is also survived by eight grandchildren, William H. Brandon Diontey Miller of Mansfield, Ohio, Franchesca Saunders and LaTracyenne Kennie of Marion, Alabama, Jasmaine Hudgens, and Kanel Waller of Raleigh, North Carolina, Shaniya and Savonn Palmer of Columbus, Ohio, and Tarasia Palmer of Lawrenceville, Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Nayriah and William H. Brandon Diontey Miller, Jr., all of Mansfield, Ohio; and one granddaughter-in-law, April Miller, the mother of his great-grandchildren and wife of his grandson, William. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends as well as a special friend, Joann Moore of Cambridge, Ohio, and godchildren, Sheree and Amillian Hargrove of Zanesville, Ohio. Willie has been part of a very large family all of his life and had a very special aunt and uncle, Dennis and Evelyn Caldwell of Mansfield, Ohio and Sally Caldwell-Sylvester, also of Mansfield, Ohio. Willie was preceded in death by his father, Zell Miller, Sr.; stepfather, Pete Smith; and grandparents, Jack and Katherine Caldwell.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44902. The Homegoing service will be held Monday, December 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Greater Saint John Church of God in Christ Oasis of Love, 190 Chester Ave., Mansfield, Ohio with Dr. Walter E. Jordan II, pastor of G.S.J.C.O.G.I.C. Oasis of Love, and Terry Litton, former pastor of First United Methodist Church of Cambridge, Ohio officiating. The family will receive visitors at the home of Willi's mother, Lorine Smith, at 253 Greenlawn Ave., Mansfield, Ohio, Willie's niece, Karla Hale at 129 Western Ave., Mansfield, Ohio, and Willie's brother, Frank Miller at 386 Linda Lane, Mansfield, Ohio.
