Born on October 14, 1949 in Los Angeles, California, Sherry was one of three children born to Wes and Jean Smith Young. Sherry grew up in Northern California, and graduated from Deanza High School in San Pablo, California. She met the love of her life, Wayne “W.D.”, while swing dancing. The two married on May 5, 1991 and shared 33 years together. She had two passions; painting and mounted shooting. Sherry never knew a stranger. She attended New Hope Church in Loudonville which was very important to her. She was known as the “prayer lady”.
She was survived by her husband, Wayne “Doug” Madison; her child, Joel (Melissa) Martinez; her grandchildren, Ashlea Roberts, Jace Martinez; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Luke, and Legend Roberts; her siblings, Judi Rumsey and Wes (Sandy) Tilton; her nephew, Jeff (Rebekah) O’Dell; and her two dogs, PJ “Pure Joy” and Shadow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandmother, Wilhelma Young.
A Celebration of Life will be held at New Hope Church, 637 N. Market Street, Loudonville, OH 44842 on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the church. The family would like to thank their church family for all of their love and support during this difficult time.
