Ruth E. Spangler Schiffer, 91, of Mansfield, died Monday, July 17, 2006, at Wedgewood Estates. Born April 5, 1915, in Crestline, she was the daughter of Adam and Matilda Schaaf Spangler. A graduate of Crestline High School in 1933, Mrs. Schiffer was an area homemaker her entire life. She was named 'Mrs. Volunteer of the Year' and worked at Meise Labs during World War II.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert F. and Judith L. Schiffer of Clinton, Connecticut; three grandchildren, Deborah Lee Schiffer-Hoven, W. Robert Schiffer and Eric F. Schiffer; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanne Owen of Ontario. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Schiffer in March 2006.
There will be no calling hours or services at this time. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
