Robert R. McFarland, 81, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Born April 13, 1937 in Mansfield, he was the son of Leonard R. and Beatrice Mae (Huss) McFarland.
Robert lived most of his life in Ohio where he worked as a truck driver, last driving for Estes. He lived in Michigan and also lived in Kentucky where he farmed and set up a campground. He was a former avid stock race car driver. Robert was known as a Jack of all Trades and was always fixing something. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, playing cards and traveling especially on family vacations. Robert also enjoyed making fudge with his younger sisters.
He is survived by a son, Bobbie (Michelle) McFarland of Mansfield; a daughter, Bonita Arnold of Mansfield; three step children; six grandchildren, Skye, Dustin, Karli, Totiana, Cale and Zachery; seven step grandchildren including Jessica, Nicky and Josh; numerous great grandchildren including Jordyn, Mason, Kaelyn, Kamden, Kaitlin and Tiffany; numerous great great granchildren; and sisters, Sharon Ann (Jim) Sifferland and Carolyn Marie (Ralph) Eichelberger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny (Jackie) McFarland and David (Jeanette) McFarland; and a sister, Betty (Gerald) Stanley.
Friends may call from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 15, 2018 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield where a funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. conducted by his brother-in-law, Ralph Eichelberger. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
