Robert E. Forsythe, 85, of Mansfield died Friday morning, May 2, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield after a brief illness. Mr. Forsythe was born June 21, 1917 in Shelby, Ohio to Lewis & Emma Walker Forsythe and had lived in the Mansfield area all of his life. He retired from Bill Call Ford where he was an auto refinisher. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Robert was an avid golfer, a member at The Woods and one of the original members of Pebble Creek Golf Club and Twin Lakes Golf Course. He repaired golf clubs and enjoyed bowling and fishing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 120th Bomber Group where he was a radio operator and gunner.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty E. Daugherty Forsythe; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. & Sheila Forsythe of Delaware, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice E. & David Anschutz of Ontario; four grandchildren, Jennifer E. Kline and her husband, Jason, of Ontario, Ryan D. Anschutz of Ontario, Michelle Shauer of San Diego, California and Karl Shauer of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and five brothers.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Charles Tobias. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
