Richard "Dick" Wesley Rader, 67, of Ontario, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 9, 2009, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born October 26, 1941, in Butler, Pennsylvania. Dick graduated with a B.A. from Ashland College. He was a long-time member of Grace Episcopal Church and recent member of First United Church of Christ in Shelby. Dick retired from Sprint after 30 years of service and was the co-owner and operator of Eccles and Rader Accounting Service. A country and gospel music fan, Dick especially enjoyed listening to his son's music and the Statler Brothers. He was a model railroad enthusiast and enjoyed being a member of the Traveling Trainmen of North Central Ohio. Dick's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family, friends, and dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia "Pat" Eccles Rader; son, Rich and Tiffany Rader of Ontario; sister, Margaret "Peg" John Hickman of Green, Ohio; and aunt, Erma Rader of Butler, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wesley and Ellen Jane Rader; brother, James L. Rader; and in-laws, Harold L. and Mary Eccles.
Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at First United Church of Christ, 23 Church St., Shelby with additional visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. His son, the Rev. Dr. Richard Leo Rader has the honor of officiating at the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Contributions in Dick's memory may be made to the First United Church of Christ, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, Aplastic Anemia and Myelodysplastic Syndromes International Foundation, Inc., or a charity of the donor's choice.
