Michael "Mike" D. Weaver

Michael "Mike" D. Weaver, 70, of Mansfield, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born September 5, 1948 in Kankakee, Illinois, he was the son of Kimball and Billie Jean (Byrd) Weaver.

Mike moved to the Mansfield area from Akron, Ohio and retired from Ohio Edison in September 2009 following 39 years as a lineman. While living in Detroit, he played semi-pro hockey for the Junior Red Wings and had been a coach in Massillon. Mike stayed a fan of hockey following the Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets. He also enjoyed following Michigan State. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting (including Elk hunting in Wyoming), fishing and barbecuing and was known to make the best brisket around. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, IBEW 1194 and was a life member of the NRA.

He is survived by his wife Brenda (Fletcher) Weaver whom he met at a company bowling tournament and married June 8, 1984; sons, Chad Weaver (Stacia Wolfe), Derek (Kristen) Weaver and Keith (Christina) Reece; a daughter, Lisa (Neil) Smith; grandchildren, Michael Weaver, Kyle Weaver, Ashleigh Smith, Taylour Smith, Tyler Reece, Alix George, Juil Reece, London Reece, Hayden Weaver and Evelyn Weaver; his mother, Billie Jean Weaver; a sister, Linda Locken; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Sherry Snyder.

Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Wayne Presnell. Burial will follow in Lantz Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
