Loretta was born November 24, 1935, in Kipton, Ohio, to Carl and Anna Mae (Mingus) Keefer. Her family moved to Sullivan in 1943. A graduate of Sullivan High School Class of 1953, she was a cheerleader and was crowned Homecoming Queen. Loretta worked at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland for 29 years as a nurse’s aide, ward clerk, and lab secretary. She enjoyed watching Ohio sports teams, especially the Cleveland Indians, and above all, she enjoyed her close relationship with Jesus.
Loretta is survived by her children, Connie Farmer of St. Petersburg, Florida, Angie (Bill) Weston of Ashland, Steve (Becky) Farmer of Leesburg, Florida, and Mary (Ken) Tock of Ashland; grandchildren, Stacy (Bill) Tekavec of Painesville, Ohio, Jennifer (Ben) Crowley of Blaine, Minnesota, Nicole (Jeremy) Roar of Ashland, Timothy Pittenger of Dade City, Florida, Marissa Schnell of Wooster, Daniel Pittenger of Ashland, John (Mattie) Schnell of Ashland, Jeff Schnell of Ashland, and Nicole (Matteo) Tock-Falvo of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; and great-grandchildren, Jared Stanek, Riley Stanek, Grady Roar, Mason Kilgore, Emma Roar, Keagen Schnell, Owen Kilgore, Shayla Crowley, Kindall Crowley, Sierra Pittenger, Breyson Schnell, Jake Pittenger, Leah Tekavec, Aiden Tekavec, Kinsley Schnell, and Casen Schnell. She is also survived by her sister, Glenda Gilbert of Ashland and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Loretta is preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Keel and siblings, William Keefer, Barbara Denbow, Karl (Bub) Keefer, Lila Westervelt, and Lewis Keefer.
A Gathering for family and friends will be held Friday, January 21, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Wappner Cremation Center, 1327 Ashland Road, Mansfield. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Camden Cemetery, Kipton, Ohio.
For those unable to attend, there will be a celebration of life for Loretta at a later date.
