Kay Lynn Gibson, 74, of Mansfield, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022 at her residence. Born May 28, 1947 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Wesley “Wes” C. and Florence “Frenchy” L. (Stiger) Jones.
Kay worked with the Mansfield City Schools as a teacher’s assistant and ran the ticket booth for sporting events at Mansfield Senior High. She was a member of Resurrection and Peace Fellowship. An excellent seamstress, Kay was a valued long standing member of the Friendship Quilters formerly known as the Friendship Quilters of Ontario. She will be greatly missed. She also was a member of Shelly Acres Pool and the Lexington and Ontario Senior Centers. Kay enjoyed playing computer games and her favorite places to eat were Porky’s and The Warrior.
She is survived by her sons, Dave (Tammy) Funk, Michael Funk and Brian (Jessica) Funk; her grandchildren, Bethany Funk, Amber Funk, Kallie Funk, Cody Funk, Lane Hancock and Sean Funk; her great grandson, William Gordon; her sister, Marilyn (Ed) Taylor; her nephew, Jim (Midge) Taylor; her niece, Jenny (Lora) Taylor; and her ever loving companion, her dog Hope.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Gibson; a grandson, Wesley Funk; and a niece, Tamara Deems.
A gathering for family and friends will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2022 at Wappner Cremation Center, 1327 Ashland Road, Mansfield.
