James A. Brown, 67, of Ontario, Ohio passed away after a three year battle with cancer, on August 25, 2016. He was born to Earl James and Marie Garnet (Spangler) Brown on August 15, 1949 in Galion, Ohio.
Jim had many interests during his lifetime. He served in the United State Marine Corps, and worked at Geauga Plastics in Crestline and Abbott Labs in Ashland. Jim was a scuba diving instructor, and owned Dive Inc. in Mansfield and Columbus. He had an outreach ministry in Columbus, and studied Biblical Archeology. Jim was also a skilled mechanic, and he restored dozers and tractors. He enjoyed wheeling and dealing, buying, selling, trading, and collecting. His latest interest was restoring vintage garden tractors. Jim loved to joke and tease.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lucy Brown; his sister, Terry (George) Skulsk; brother, Tom (Betty) Brown; mother-in-law, Jackie Reindl; sisters-in-law, Tricia Reindl, Susie (Keith) Elliott, and Sandy Jerger; brothers-in-law, Tom (Kathy) Reindl, and Alan Reindl; nieces, Erika (Mark) Malick, Devon Erdenberger, and Diana Reindl; nephews, Joe Brown, Jay (Rhonda) Brown, John Skulski, and Jeff Reindl; great nieces, Cayla Brown and Brooke Malick; and great nephews, Cody (Tara) Brown and Blake Malick.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Susanne Marie Brown.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 29, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Rd. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm, also at the Ontario Home.
