On September 4, 2021 at 4:19 pm in the afternoon, Gene William Reynolds, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior as he left this earthly plane and entered eternity. Gene was born on June 8, 1944 in Ashland, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Virginia Reynolds; his mother and father-in-law, Gerald and Evelyn Harris; and his son-in-law, Troy Heft. Still living are his wife, best friend, and partner in all of life's shenanigans, Diane Reynolds; his children, Scott (Heather) Reynolds, Michael (Jaime Linden) Reynolds, and Tonya (Emerson Smith) Heft; his grandchildren, Remington (Mikayla) Reynolds, Colt Reynolds, and Jocelyn Heft; his sister, Bonnie (Larry) Oberholzer; his sisters-in-law, Janet (Bill) Emery, Barbara Harris, and Pat Rogers.
Gene graduated from Ashland High School in 1963 and immediately felt led to enlist and serve his country in the United States Army from 1963-1966. He was deployed and served alongside his fellow soldiers in Korea. Upon returning to Ashland, he worked at Ohio Edison for almost 40 years, climbing poles and waking up at all hours of the night to serve his community and get the "lights back on" whenever the call of duty would come. He retired in 2006 and loved spending his free time tinkering around their properties or on whatever boat he was restoring at the time, building things in his workshop, and sitting on the back porch with his wife drinking sweet tea. Gene loved boating, hunting and shooting, being up at the lake or Huron river with his friends and family, traveling with his wife as they went on many adventures to Alaska, Jamaica, and all over the US, and airplanes. Pops loved airplanes and he could tell what kind of aircraft it was by the sound alone. He enjoyed hanging out at the Fin, Feather and Fur or doing some DIY project in the barn. He was a dedicated member of the Brethren Dickey Church and taught his children what it meant to live life according to the Word of God as he modeled it by walking out life this side of Heaven guided by scripture. Above all he loved spending time with his family. He couldn't get enough of being with his grandchildren and he was so very proud of each of them. Gene Reynolds was a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend and he will be dearly missed by all the lives he touched during his life. We will see you again and until we do, we love you!
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Please make any memorial contributions in Gene's honor to the Brethren Dickey Church or Hospice of North Central Ohio. The Wappner Cremation Center is honored to serve the family of Gene Reynolds.
