Dorothy Mae (Eyerly) Rader died unexpectedly on October 9, 2014, following a short illness. She was born July 7, 1926 in Mansfield, OH to Gail R. and Thelma (Burger) Eyerly and lived in the Ontario area all her life.
She attended Springfield Twp. (now Ontario) Schools and graduated as valedictorian in 1944. In the sixth grade she met a cute, blonde, blue-eyed boy named Burdell Rader who became her high school sweetheart. They were married at the Ontario Community Methodist Church on February 11, 1945 and shared 54 wonderful years together. They remained active, faithful members of that church where she served over the years as organist, secretary, treasurer, and choir member. They raised their family in the Ontario community and were instrumental in establishing the Ontario Music Boosters Club. Dorothy worked for over 30 years at GCS Air Service, and also volunteered as a girl scout leader, 4-H advisor, and with her husband, traveled with other Rvers around the country serving Habitat for Humanity. They loved traveling and visited all 50 states, including an extended 6-week trip to Alaska celebrating their 50th anniversary, as well as Japan, Korea, Germany, and Switzerland. She helped establish the Ontario Senior Citizen Center and served as its only director until her death. She loved spending time with family, weekly breakfast outings with dear friends, Betty Miller and Margaret Hause, and playing euchre and bridge.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Ron Dille; son-in-law, Mike Fulmer; grandchildren, Beth (Brian) Waterhouse, Scott (Trish) Fulmer, Mark (Amanda) Fulmer, Matt (Kathy) Dille, Todd (Brianne) Dille; great grandchildren, Mick and Jordan Waterhouse, Kearstin, Jerod, and Zain Fulmer, Kyler, Wyatt, Cole, Taylor, and Meghan Dille; brother, Robert (Linda) Eyerly; brother-in-law, Darrell (Marlene) Rader; sisters-in-law, LaDonna Fuhrer, Dorothy Rader, Leota Rader, and Evelyn Eyerly; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burdell Rader; daughter, Linda Fulmer; infant daughter, Laura Jean Rader; brother, Richard Eyerly; and brothers-in-law, Donald Rader, Dwight Rader, Virgil Rader, and Daniel Fuhrer.
A service celebrating Dorothy's life will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ontario United Methodist Church, 3540 Park Ave. West in Ontario, conducted by Pastor Peg Welch, with visitation two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
