Dixie Lee Lucas

Dixie was born in 1936 in Mansfield, Ohio to Leroy and Freda (Frazier) Kelly. In 1955 she married Nyle J the love of her life and enjoyed 35 years of marriage before his passing. Together they enjoyed traveling to the New England states, camping, bike trips, and taking cruises. Dixie loved the Lord, the Mansfield Open Bible church which she joined in 1975, and being there for her family. She was always excited to babysit and hang out with all of her grandchildren. She loved her dogs and to root for her favorite Cleveland sports teams. Dixie was a member of Tops and the Red Hatter's, while working at the board of elections for over 25 years.

Dixie is survived by her children, Mark Lucas, Kim (Larry) Thomas, and Timothy (Tamey) Lucas; grandchildren, Luke (Beverly) Thomas, Timothy (Kristina) Lucas, Samantha and Rachel Moats, and Justin Lucas; 10 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and her best friend and sister, Sandy (Kelly) Cyrus.

Along with her husband, Nyle, and her son, Greg Moats, Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bruce Kelly; sister, Shirley Gerhart; and grandson, Lee Thomas.

A celebration of life will be held at the Mansfield Open Bible Church, 1150 Rayfield Dr., Mansfield, OH 44905 on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 1pm, Pastor Dink Porter will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mansfield Open Bible Church. Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield is honored to serve the Lucas family.
